Judith W. Hamilton, CPA, MBA
Originally from Georgia, Judy attended San Diego State University, graduating in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with distinction. Judy continued her education at San Diego State and received her Masters of Business Administration in 1977. After working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and part-time lecturer at San Diego State, Judy joined the San Diego office of Arthur Young & Co. During her tenure at Arthur Young, Judith worked in both the auditing and consulting divisions of the firm, including assignments in real estate development, manufacturing, hospitals and airlines.
Having an interest in working with smaller clients, Judy founded Hamilton Accountancy Corporation in 1980. By providing quality services to both businesses and individuals and recruiting quality staff, the firm has grown to over 1,000 clients including corporations, partnerships, individuals, exempt organizations, estates and trusts. In 1981, she founded the Professional Athlete Services division of the firm which provides financial, accounting and tax services to professional athletes, agents and coaches in baseball, football, basketball, and volleyball team sports. She has worked closely with legal counsel for the Major League Players Association on various state tax issues and has provided litigation support to attorneys and other professionals involving multi-state tax and residence issues for professional athletes. Judy founded and was the original editor of the publication, “The Financial Lineup” which addresses current financial and related tax topics for those in the sports industry. Judith is also an owner and former chief financial officer of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes minor league professional baseball team, a minor league team for the Anaheim Angels.
In 1997, Judy co-founded our sister company, Pacific Business Solutions, LLC, which provide part-time CFO and controller services to emerging companies.
Judy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She also holds a Series 65 license as a Registered Investment Advisor. In 2005 The Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (AMAA) conferred Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) certification upon Judy. She is one of an elite group of experienced corporate financial advisors nationwide to earn the CM&AA certification in 2005. The CM&AA designation distinguish those individuals who have mastered a comprehensive body of essential knowledge and have committed to staying abreast of continuing new developments in the profession.
Judy has served on the boards of various organizations including the Triton Athletic Association for UCSD, San Diego/Imperial County Girl Scouts, San Dieguito Surf Soccer Club, San Dieguito Girls Softball, The Professional Advisors Council of The San Diego Foundation and the Community Preparatory School. She has been an instructor/lecturer at San Diego State University and Mira Costa College in Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Taxation for Individuals and Taxation for Corporations.
Judy is currently working on her book “The Financial Quarterback” which is expected to be published this year. She spends her time away from the office playing basketball and soccer and enjoys attending as many of her clients’ sporting events as she can. She and her husband, Chris, reside in Solana Beach.
